Yes, it is good to have focus, and provide focus to that which you wish to achieve- but a broad amount of skills can be extremely useful in all manner of new learning situations..
And let’s face it, to constantly learn is the best way to keep your brain and mental capacities online & at their best, regardless of your biological age.
