Personal growth happens best in the context of Love.
When we understand the Love of God, then we are filled with the right motive to pursue God and grow in God.
When our relationships are permeated with the atmosphere of Love, then we are filled with the right motivation: not guilt, not anxiety, performance anxiety and all these pressures that create a warped sense of personal identity, but instead we are motivated by Love to be all that God wants us to be, and to flourish and grow in that environment.
Choose to focus on strengths, not weaknesses.
When we look at people, we need to Look at people through the lens of Christ– the best way to encourage
2 Cor 5:16-17
“16So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
People grow best when the predominate atmosphere is one of encouragement.
Focus on peoples strengths, call out and encourage those- then let God work on the other aspects of a person.
“29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
